Currently, the city has several methods to involve the community in decision-making. Volunteers on twenty citizen advisory boards are one of the main ways that has traditionally been used. Temporary community action working groups that create a specific product, policy or recommendation have also been created recently and neighborhood groups are also offered support through the city. Volunteering for departments such as the library and police department is another way to get involved. Providing public comment to the Commission and staff through e-mail, letters and at City Commission and other public meetings is another way that people can connect to decision-makers. Bringing concerns to the attention of staff and working together toward resolution is also a common way for community members to participate. Bozeman Online City Hall is the latest method the city has to gather input on specific topics.
