City of Virginia Beach 2015-16 Proposed Budget & CIP
On March 24, City Manager James K. Spore proposed a $1.87 billion operating budget for fiscal 2015-16. After reviewing the proposed operating budget and the six-year capital improvement program, please provide your suggestions to the following questions:
What suggestions do you have for the operating budget?
if you have to raise revenue, everyone should share the burden, not just homeowners
Which revenues would you adjust – up or down?
lower real estate increase and nothing for light rail
If you adjust revenues, which expenses would you change to balance it – up or down?
take a hard look at costs /number of upper management. nearly all organizations are top heavy; also eliminate light rail from this budget, as well as handouts to builders and the sports plex
What suggestions do you have for the 6-year capital plan?
work harder to attract revenue from new industry

none right now; we cant afford it

light rail for sure, big bucks for entertainment venus
