City of Virginia Beach 2015-16 Proposed Budget & CIP
On March 24, City Manager James K. Spore proposed a $1.87 billion operating budget for fiscal 2015-16. After reviewing the proposed operating budget and the six-year capital improvement program, please provide your suggestions to the following questions:
What suggestions do you have for the operating budget?
Don't spend the taxpayers money on Light Rail.
Which revenues would you adjust – up or down?
Bill for EMS Transport Services. This is insurance coverage money left on the table.
If you adjust revenues, which expenses would you change to balance it – up or down?
Don't offer the employee and resident of Virginia Beach a raise, and use that as a reason to increase the real estate tax.
What suggestions do you have for the 6-year capital plan?
Drop the Light Rail idea, it is based on dated 2012 information that didn't reflect actual cost and true taxpayer obligation. The prospective numbers of light rail users don't justify the cost. Have you ever seen a ticket taker on board verifying the ticket purchase ?? I have not, and think it's a money losing proposition!
What projects would you add?
Administrative Department to bill for EMS Ambulance Transports.
Which projects would you remove?
Light Rail
