8. If more walkable, open air shopping areas like Cherry St., Kendall Whittier, Tulsa Arts District, Utica Square and Brookside were developed near your home/work would you be more inclined to visit them as opposed to a more typical strip center?
Yes
9. How well do you feel the retail options in your neighborhood meet your common shopping needs: supermarkets, drug stores, hardware stores, restaurants, etc.? (0=does not meet my needs to 100=meets my needs very well)
- - 90
10. What do you like about the shopping district in your neighborhood? i.e. convenience, quality, variety, experience, price, etc.
Close to my house, human scale, contextual to neighborhood, apart of the city street grid, vibrant, customer/ business relationship, variety.
11. What would you change about the shopping district in your neighborhood? i.e. convenience, quality, variety, experience, price, etc.
If people could walk to it and if it had solid public transportation to it.
12. What other types of commercial businesses would you like to see in your neighborhood?
Would like to see direct fiber internet connections to private units in multi-dwelling units to attract people who want to work from home. Great for entrepreneurs.
13. What does the term "shop local" mean to you?
Other - A combination of all four. The more the business is tied to the neighborhood the better, but I consider shopping for a frosty at Wendy's at 31st and Harvard local.
14. There is a concentration of Asian and Hispanic businesses in east Tulsa. The area may be identified as an “international district” with shopping, dining, and cultural activities representing several ethnicities. What features or activities might encourage/discourage you from visiting?
Other - I think figuring out ways to make communities of color feel safe to express their culture. If policies are created from the active majority, how does that affect the inactive minority neighborhoods.
15. What additional thoughts would you like to share as the City prepares a strategy for retail development?
Don't let the council pass ZCA-10.
