As Ford's former Twin Cities Assembly Plant is redeveloped in the coming years, a 21st Century Community will emerge on the more than 125 acres of land situated along the Mississippi River in Saint Paul.
Several initiatives are underway to prepare and position the site for the national stage in late 2015 when Ford Land anticipates issuing a Request for Proposals for a Master Developer. City staff are working on key urban design and planning activities that focus on energy, jobs, transportation, public space, and zoning.
Share your feedback on the following questions for the zoning and public realm plan:
1. What makes a great urban neighborhood? Are there neighborhoods that we should look to as inspiration for redevelopment of the Ford site? Is yes, what are they, where, and what makes them great?

An Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) has been completed for a proposed expansion Canadian Pacific Railway’s (CP Rail) Saint Paul rail yard. The City of Saint Paul was the Responsible Government Unit (RGU) for the EAW. Notice of availability of the EAW was published in the EQB Monitor on March 31, 2014, and the public comment period closed on April 30, 2014.
On June 12, the City of Saint Paul determined the proposed CP Rail yard expansion has the potential for significant environmental effects. The Findings of Fact and Record of Decision documenting the decision, as well as a document containing all comments received and responses to those comments (titled Comments and Responses) can be accessed and downloaded from the City’s website at http://www.stpaul.gov/cpraileaw. A copy of the final EAW and all attachments is also available from the website. Alternatively, you may contact senior planner Josh Williams at 651-266-6659 or [email protected] to request a CD containing all documents.
Because the City found the proposed yard expansion to have the potential for significant environmental effects, an Environmental Impact Statement, or EIS, must be prepared. The first step in that process will be scoping of the EIS. The scoping process will include a public meeting at which the City will accept comments regarding the scope of the EIS. Notice of the time, date and location of the meeting will be published in the EQB Monitor, and a press release will issued by the City. This information will also be posted to the City’s website at http://www.stpaul.gov/cpraileaw. Further information regarding the EIS process will also be posted to the website, as it becomes available.
