Climbing equipment--specifically, a dome-style structure--at the far end of the park.
Three types of options were shown at a well attended neighborhood meeting in April. Neighbors chose a dynamic, well-made climbing structure. What was NOT preferred was parkour-style climbing, Adirondack chairs or rocks. Residents want an active, well-made climbing structure at the far end, with continued preservation of the vast greenspace central to the park. The County's proposed solution enables this, plants more trees and eliminates invasive species.

AHCA, the neighborhood association, has voted in support of the park improvements, including a climbing structure.
There is a vocal couple that is opposing the park improvements because the end result is not what they want. It is unfortunate, counter-productive and not reflective of the community. Through multiple neighborhood meetings, they have been informed of the process--yet they say they didn't know (perhaps because they were living out of the country until May 2015). They continue to advocate for a "water feature" at the park--despite being told that is well beyond the budget for this project. They are not convinced--despite being told in detailed fashion--that a high level of technical and engineering attention will go towards solving the drainage issues.
Please, Arlington County Board and NCAC, don't let the poorly spirited, small-in-number opposition prevent a wonderful enhancement to the neighborhood. They do not represent the community, including AHCA.
Open Arlington is not a certified voting system or ballot box. As with any public comment process, participation in Open Arlington is voluntary.
