  • When you think about a new Lubber Run Community Center, what do you envision yourself doing there?

Exercise, work-out. We need good, appropriate indoor exercise and work-out space for all ages, including middle-age and seniors.

  • Do you or members of your household currently participate in activities at the Lubber Run Community Center?
    • No
  • If yes, approximately how often do you or members of your household visit the Lubber Run Community Center?
    No response.
  • What types of spaces and uses should the new Lubber Run Community Center have?

Better exercise facilities similar to TJ and Barcroft that are welcoming to all ages. If Arlington wants to support aging in place, it needs to factor in needs of its older citizens in recreation and park planning, in addition to youth and younger adult needs.

  • When you think about the immediate area surrounding a new Lubber Run Community Center, what type of spaces and uses should be accommodated on the site?

Maintain green and open space, as few hardened surfaces as possible, no multi-story or additional buildings or non recreational uses. Playground or field for kids games. Basketball court for pick-up games. Possibly community garden space. It should blend in with or be a natural part or extension of the adjacent Lubber Run park to the extent possible.

  • In what ways can a new Lubber Run Community Center have an impact on the community?

Provide affordable space and equipment for indoor exercise and physical activities to take some of the pressure off of other facilities, "older" friendly exercise and work-out space, and space for things like gymnastics and fencing that are in high demand and oversubscribed or underresourced at other locations. Also should consider a big meeting room, deck or some sort of cafe type space with wifi and opportunity for informal gatherings, meetings, lectures etc.
