  • When you think about a new Lubber Run Community Center, what do you envision yourself doing there?

It is not in my neighborhood but my family relies on the Barcroft gym and we would benefit if some of what happens there could take place at the new community center at Lubber Run.

  • Do you or members of your household currently participate in activities at the Lubber Run Community Center?
    • No
  • If yes, approximately how often do you or members of your household visit the Lubber Run Community Center?
    • Few times per year
  • What types of spaces and uses should the new Lubber Run Community Center have?

Flexible gyms for ball sports are in short supply across Arlington. In particular, I've found it impossible to enroll my child in indoor soccer because there is so much more demand than available gym space. Likewise, gymnastics needs more room at Barcroft and if further expansion is needed, Lubber Run could potentially accommodate that in the future. I hope the space is built with that flexibility in mind.

  • When you think about the immediate area surrounding a new Lubber Run Community Center, what type of spaces and uses should be accommodated on the site?

It would make a great location for a small nature center and a place where kids get encouraged to experience nature informally and often.

  • In what ways can a new Lubber Run Community Center have an impact on the community?

Done right, it will reduce the stress brought about with registration for indoor soccer and gymnastics.

  • Do you have a favorite community center in Arlington? If so, which center and why is it your favorite?

I don't live within walking distance of any of them but I often find myself taking part in meetings and events held at the Fairlington Community Center. It is very nice and I think we're lucky to have it available for a wide range of uses.
