When you think about a new Lubber Run Community Center, what do you envision yourself doing there?
The site should be used for mixed use development. This is an excellent opportunity to increase the building footprint and take advantage of moving parking under ground. I envision a larger community center (playing basketball, APS classes - maybe Montessori, or housing associated with a new, larger community center). Parking should be moved underground which would actually enable an expansion of green space even with the mixed use development.
Do you or members of your household currently participate in activities at the Lubber Run Community Center?
Yes
If yes, approximately how often do you or members of your household visit the Lubber Run Community Center?
Few times per month
What types of spaces and uses should the new Lubber Run Community Center have?
It should have a gym, classrooms, and ideally be shared with APS and/or additional housing.
When you think about the immediate area surrounding a new Lubber Run Community Center, what type of spaces and uses should be accommodated on the site?
The site should contain a much larger building footprint than currently exists. The current parking lot is so large, there is ample opportunity to expand the building footprint while actually increasing green space. The facility should accommodate the the growing school aged population - playgrounds, fields, etc.
In what ways can a new Lubber Run Community Center have an impact on the community?
Rebuilding the existing LRCC is an ideal opportunity to address county wide challenges associated with housing and/or school capacity. It is centrally located in the county and not too far from the metro and major bus routes. Moving parking underground provides an opportunity to address 2 or 3 of the highest priority needs in the county (green space, schools, and/or housing).
