When you think about a new Lubber Run Community Center, what do you envision yourself doing there?
I envision this as a multi-use facility where the county maximizes the use of space and functionality for all citizens of the county. The park itself, the ravine and the "run" would remain undisturbed, but the facility would have both open space for multi use, and be multi-storied (with parking underneath), and built in such a way that its uses can change with changing needs in the county

What types of spaces and uses should the new Lubber Run Community Center have?
When my children were small, and since it was within walking distance from our house, the children participated in several after school classes there and I participated in fitness activities.
The newly to be designed LRCC should have spaces where classes can be held, where offices can be created for the county and its partners, where school activities can take place, especially for Barrett school. It should have several floors of affordable housing, especially senior housing as the integration of children and seniors is beneficial to both. The Center should serve Arlington as a community, not only the immediate neighborhood.

Parking underground; undisturbed ravine as park and green space; outdoor learning and play space for children and adults; outdoor sports facilities; Larger footprint than current center with living quarters on top floors; office and classroom and flexible meeting space in the facility
In what ways can a new Lubber Run Community Center have an impact on the community?
Lubber Run can show the community that it is available to all, that it embodies the welcoming spirit of Arlington.
Do you have a favorite community center in Arlington? If so, which center and why is it your favorite?
I love Fairlington (even though it is an old and energy inefficient building) because there is the 4-H, a gym, meeting space for very diverse groups, library, several children's' programs/ preschool and many adult classes.
