  • When you think about a new Lubber Run Community Center, what do you envision yourself doing there?

Taking exercise classes like a ballet bar class or yoga. Attending community meetings and gatherings. Attending talks or classes. Events for seniors.

  • Do you or members of your household currently participate in activities at the Lubber Run Community Center?
    • Yes
  • If yes, approximately how often do you or members of your household visit the Lubber Run Community Center?
    • Few times per year
  • What types of spaces and uses should the new Lubber Run Community Center have?

I envision a Community Center where young people can congregate safely and engage in recreational activities. I do not see a massive sports and fitness center like Barcroft. I would like to a space where there are activities for young people, meeting/class rooms, and rooms for exercise classes like the Walter Reed Community Center. I would also like to see outdoor space utilized for activities like volleyball and dancing. I do enjoy watching the young people out dancing in the Lubber Run parking lot on Sunday afternoons. I would like to see all this integrated into the beautiful parkland surrounding the Center. Playgrounds would also be a plus.

  • When you think about the immediate area surrounding a new Lubber Run Community Center, what type of spaces and uses should be accommodated on the site?

The area surrounding a new Lubber Run Community Center should be used for recreation only especially considering the density of the area surrounding Lubber Run. There should be no housing on this site. I would not object, however, to the County using some space for offices for the Department. The space is not conducive to playing fields. It is not flat. An outdoor playground for children would be ideal.

  • In what ways can a new Lubber Run Community Center have an impact on the community?

Give the community a gathering space it can utilize. Provide a safe non-commercial haven for young adults. Preserve green space for the surrounding community.

  • Do you have a favorite community center in Arlington? If so, which center and why is it your favorite?

    Walter Reed.

  • What is your home zip code?
