  • When you think about a new Lubber Run Community Center, what do you envision yourself doing there?

The center should encompass a broad range of uses so that it can be a go-to place for the entire community, both in terms of indoor activities and outdoor ones.

  • Do you or members of your household currently participate in activities at the Lubber Run Community Center?
    • No
  • If yes, approximately how often do you or members of your household visit the Lubber Run Community Center?
    No response.
  • What types of spaces and uses should the new Lubber Run Community Center have?

We need to think about the kind of uses that the interior space is likely to be put to here in the 21st century. These may be different in major ways from the uses of the center as originally built. There should be plenty of light and air in any new building. The current building is very dated and unappealing. With land such a premium in the County now, any new building such as this should be built with multiple uses in mind.

  • When you think about the immediate area surrounding a new Lubber Run Community Center, what type of spaces and uses should be accommodated on the site?

Open space, both for recreational usage and for preserved woodlands, should be maximized. Among the new uses that the area surrounding the new community center can be used for could be a weekend community-oriented open-air farmers market similar to the ones recently opened at the Arlington Mill and Fairlington Community Centers. The nearby neighborhoods that the Center primarily serves do not have easy access to any existing weekend farmers market. The new center building would need to have restroom facilities accessible from the outside of the building to make them usable for a weekly open-air market at the site on Saturdays or Sundays.

  • In what ways can a new Lubber Run Community Center have an impact on the community?

Again, think of all the ways that a local rebuilt community center here can have a positive impact on every segment of the local population, be the residents pre-teens, teenagers, families, young single professionals, and seniors. There should be offerings at the center for all of these groups.
