Yes, this target is appropriate.
Comments (optional):
No response.
Question: What are your thoughts regarding the approach to the geographic distribution of committed affordable housing?
I agree with the proposed policies, but I would add other considerations (explain below).
Comments (optional):
The Board should be committed to an equal distribution in "all transit corridors" by funding all geographic areas through the Transit Oriented Affordable Housing (TOAH) program.
From the Affordable Housing Master Plan & Implementation Framework -
"In terms of geographic distribution, the Columbia Pike corridor (areas F and G) has continued to receive the greatest share of the new CAF units in the county. Between FY2001 and FY2012, 39 percent of new CAF units were in this part of the county, above the targeted share of 15 percent. From FY2009 to FY2012 this
corridor’s share of the total CAFs added increased to 75 percent." Columbia Pike should be treated as having complied with its required quota of CAFs until the remaining transit corridors meet their obligation.
Question: Should Arlington County residents and workers receive a preference for committed affordable housing?
