The playground area needs shade/trees, it is not possible to play there mid-day in the summer. Also, the water play area was not properly planned. First, there was no drainage, leaving the possibility of standing water and therefore the possibility of breeding mosquitoes. Therefore, as a fix, the Parks Department drilled holes on the bottom of the basins, now they don't hold water for the kids to play. It was a poor decision to choose this water feature that does not have an option to drain, and now no option to hold the water. There should have been a plug.

I don't understand why the only feedback being collected is around amphitheater seating, shading, and lighting. I have never once seen the amphitheater used. I live on Cameron street and I am in the park several times per week during the day and evening. I have never seen it used. Why are funds being committed to something that gets no use? I would rather see more trees or play spaces in the park. The bathrooms and picnic area could definitely use the renovation.

More trees and greenery! Less chainlink, concrete and ugly metal railings, etc. I wanted but was unable to take any of the ampitheater off my priorities as NONE of them are a priority - it seems like a terrible use of space. I have not once seen it used - that and then installed was a huge lot of concrete that is unsightly and takes up beautiful greenspace. Let's get rid of the ampitheater and put in a tennis court or a water feature for the kids. Or really anything that people in the community would use - we know for certain the ampitheater is wasted space and got increasingly ugly with all of the concrete and metal railings.

Increase green space. Plant more trees. Reduce pavement and other impermeable surfaces. Create natural areas with meadows and wildflowers.

The concrete path runs too close to the first base line of the baseball field, posing a safety hazard for players who may trip over it while wearing baseball cleats.

I'm livid that the county claimed this shade structures are no longer being installed, as we begged for one to cover the tiny metal picnic tables sitting in direct sun at our Sprayground at 1600 S Hayes. Feel terribly lied to by the county, in that clearly, these are permissible! We were told they're too much maintenance to install and care for. What a lie.
That said, I hope this project is well funded, as this community deserves the improvements and vote for #2 as priority.

I don't understand why we have a amphitheater although historic in the neighborhood it has never been used. It's location is not ideal either perhaps a tennis court or something would be a better use of the space.
