As a young person who has attended a Clarendon bar crawl, a Dupont Circle bar crawl as well as bar crawls in Atlanta when I previously was a resident there - the Clarendon bar crawl was the most disorganized and the crowds were the most rowdy. The bars are overcrowded so lines take 30 minutes or more to gain entry, resulting in people drinking in the streets, throwing trash in the streets, urinating in the streets, etc. It is damaging Clarendon's reputation and sullying our neighborhood. I noticed that most of the people causing trouble are from out-of-town (usually further out in NoVa). I think if we limit the hourly length, shift the bar crawls to be an evening event, and drastically cut down the number of participants allowed (it's clear the bars cannot handle this kind of volume, anyway) these events will be much more manageable. Businesses participating will still receive some economic benefits without endangering the neighborhood.
