Which alternative do you prefer for our Colfax Street sidewalks project?

Pinellas County is asking for your preference between two alternatives for a portion of a Safe Routes to School sidewalk project on Colfax Street. The segment in question is between 58th Street and George Boulevard. The entire project runs from 58th Street to Verona Avenue.

Please view the two alternatives below and take our two-question survey. 

• Alternative 1 (south side): Construct sidewalk within the existing public right-of-way on the south side of Colfax Street. This alternative would:
  • Maintain the existing two-way traffic flow
  • Have significant impact to existing trees
  • Have moderate impacts to parking

• Alternative 2 (north side): Reduce Colfax Street to a one-lane road with one-way traffic only. The travel direction (east or west) has not been determined. We would construct curb, gutter and sidewalk on the north side of Colfax Street. This alternative would:
  • Reduce two-way traffic to one-way traffic for this short segment
  • Have no impacts to trees or parking
  • Provide the additional safety of street curbing
