The Palo Alto City Library inspires discovery and builds community through stories, ideas and experiences. We are updating our strategic plan to align resources with community priorities, ensuring that key goals, services, and programs reflect the needs and interests of the community.

Your input will help the City and the Library identify key priorities for enhancing services and building strong community connections. Together, we can ensure the Palo Alto City Library continues to innovate and to serve where it is needed most.

Some of your Palo Alto City Library’s accomplishments include:

• 1.7 million in-person and virtual visits and 63,000+ Library card holders.
• More than 1,000 programs annually.
• 12,237 open hours in fiscal year 2024/2025 across all five Palo Alto City Library locations.
• Refreshed Children’s Library for improved services to children and families in this unique community treasure. This historic Library was the first and is one of the very few dedicated children’s libraries in the nation.
• Celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the renovations of the Mitchell Park Library & Community Center and the Rinconada Library with large-scale public events.
• Recognized by Library Journal magazine as an industry innovator for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in library services, highlighting leadership in emerging technology applications.
