Remove all "single family home" zoning and allow up to 4 units (quadplex) on every parcel BY RIGHT (i.e., without special review). Allow all lots to have ADUs added BY RIGHT. Raise the height limit across all residential areas and mixed/commercial areas to 45' (instead of low heights such as 30' limits). The regional housing allotment says Littleton will increase in size by about 50% by the year 2040. We have loads of infrastructure already here (i.e., roads, parks, sewer lines, power lines) and it's FAR better to increase the density of existing lots rather than continue to push sprawl development outwards (south and to the mountains). By removing barriers to denser housing within the existing built footprint of Littleton, we will make Littleton more affordable, add more neighbors, and reduce the amount of daily long distance driving. More housing allowed by-right and with fewer restrictions on what kind and what form the housing must take is the only way to prevent the region from going the same route as California: sky high housing costs and no available places for our children and essential workers to find a home.
