But Blue Lake in the same district as southern Humboldt just doesn't make any sense at all. We are not in the same COI as southern Humboldt.

Draft Plan A2 seems to counter the stated objectives of a "district" map. It is very counter intuitive and I hope not intentionally malicious to divide the city of Eureka in half. I live near Henderson Center and Plan A2 divides my town in half for no reason that serves it's citizens with better representation. The reasons given early on in the public input stage of the re-redistricting planning regarding the community of renters or public transit users, seem very weak at best. I believe the folks who may fall into the "communities" of interest are also not served better by having their cities divided. Concerns of renters and public transit users can certainly be advocated for across the whole Board of Supervisors. Finally, it is apparent that the current survey results for Plan A2 point to the general dissatisfaction with this Draft Plan A2. Thank you for your work on this issue and your time.

This is mostly ok since it is the closest comparison to the current district map. It looks like there is still some tweaking that needs to happen regarding population balancing between districts but the integrity of distinct communities seem to be left intact.
Any other comments you would like to share with the Redistricting Advisory Commission? Overall.... Plan A2 is BAD and Plan C2 is much less BAD.
Also I would also like to share dissatisfaction with the lack of statistical representation of the Indigenous People in the calculations used to draft these district maps. Maybe this could be addressed before the district map finalization in December.

There are renters throughout the city, and people who are dependent on public transportation throughout the city. Accurate population maps can't be created without accurate population information. Also, my understanding is that there was no map created based on the current district lines? What would you change about "Draft Plan A2, District A"? First of all the maps are unintelligible. In the first map it is stated that the lines represent the existing delineations which is incorrect.
An additional confusion is that you are giving both the districts and the plans letter names. I cannot imagine that the intent is to sow confusion, but that will certainly be the result.

Secondly the maps do not indicate the towns and routes, so that it is impossible to determine exactly where the delineations are.
I would recommend rewriting Draft Plan A so that people can understand it and express an opinion.
Thirdly, the current district delineations create a better equality, the purpose of redistricting in the first place, than Draft Plan A2.
If any changes are to be made they should occur by means of slight alterations, not a complete re-cutting, as Draft Plan A2 suggests.
Stability is a value in itself: it depends on lines of communication, commnity groups, organizations and cultural traditions. Life including county life has enought anomie and chaos already, no need to add to it with a conflict-creating zone upset.
What would you keep about "Draft Plan A2, District A"? Nothing. If the preference is to define interest groups and political identifications, break the plan up into smaller groups. The choice to have 5 supervisors is arbitrary.
