1) Do these documents provide a clear understanding of how the ADA Compliance Plan and the ADA Compliance Plan for County Maintained Roads fit into increasing access to Humboldt County programs, services and activities?
Yes
1a) If No, what suggestions do you
have that would provide a clear
understanding?
No response.
2) Does the ADA Compliance Plan address all the barriers that affect your access to county facilities,
programs, services and activities?
No
2a) If not, are there barriers that you want placed on the county’s list to be removed?
Yes
2b) If Yes, what are those barriers?
Limited hours, days, and stops for public transportation make it harder to use county facilities. Not all county facilities are easily reached by ordinary public transportation. Alternative 'just for disabled' transportation is limited.
3) What county programs or facilities do you visit most often?
Aviation/Airport
Courthouse
Library Services
3a) Other program or facility:
No response.
4) What is your preferred mode of transportation?
Public transportation
5) Please leave any additional comments:
I think the county should set a goal to have a bus stop within one or two blocks of every county facility that is open to the public. I mean a bus stop that allows a clear path to the facility, such as a sidewalk without poles in the middle, with no uncut curb, steep hill, unsafe street crossing, or similar barrier for people who have mobility, vision, or other disabilities. Everyone should be able to ride a bus to a county facility.
Open Humboldt is not a certified voting system or ballot box. As with any public comment process, participation in Open Humboldt is voluntary.
