What is your vision for the McKinleyville Town Center?

The County Planning & Building Department is developing a Master Plan for the McKinleyville Town Center, and we need your input! 

The 2002 McKinleyville Community Plan, developed with the input of local residents, calls for the creation of a unique identity for McKinleyville through the development of a town center. The Plan envisions a community focal point containing shops, work places, parks, walking and biking paths and civic facilities essential to the daily lives of residents. The Planning & Building Department, in partnership with the McKinleyville Municipal Advisory Committee, is now formally kicking off the town center planning process. 

Above is a map of the Town Center area as defined in the Community Plan. It contains 65 parcels with 50 property owners. As you can see, large undeveloped properties adjacent to Hiller Rd. (to the west and south of Safeway) make up the majority of the total 141 acres of land. The Town Center area also includes properties with existing commercial, residential and civic uses, including Pierson Park, Eureka Natural Foods and the McKinleyville Shopping Center. 

This survey is designed to give Humboldt County residents a chance to weigh in on key decision points in the Town Center project. In addition to this survey, we are hosting a series of interactive workshops to gather community input on the Town Center Master Plan.
