    1. Overall there needs planning for delivery trucks, entry and exit from end to end on Redwood Drive. Currently delivery trucks park semi-legally in the middle of the street. 2. Priorities need to be articulated....shall this be a town plaza walking area limiting vehicles to one lane with in each direction with a mix of parking in front of stores and easy priority access to side streets? 3. Cloverdale has a main street that looks like it works...at least for the casual visitor. I don't know if it works for Cloverdale businesses, residents, etc. 4. Planning for events outside Garberville...Reggae, (if it returns) Summer Arts, future summer festivals, etc. Requires transportation plans with site specific amenities (sidewalk cafe's during festival events, etc.)

The kiosk needs to be repeated at least three times over the length of Redwood Drive. Trash and Recycle containers need to be installed with pick up dates and times on the cans along with brief description of acceptable trash/recycle materials. Homeless signs and assistance to hitchhikers and farm workers should be part of the Welcome Plaza. A covered well lit area for high tech vending machines and places to sit down need to be included. Integration with Motel Garberville and Humboldt Redwood Inn must be part of the planning.

  • Please submit your comments on A - Parallel Parking Section.

Parallel parking offers the advantage of easier egress and ingress from the parking space unlike angled parking which blocks traffic when the vehicle enters the thoroughfare. There may be innovative designs for both angled and parallel parking that engineer better traffic flow. For example if the bike lane was next to the sidewalk it might enable smoother entry and exit to parking spaces with temporary use of the bike lane by vehicles entering and exit the planned parking spaces.

  • Please submit your comments on B - Angled Parking Section

This drawing inhibits comparison with the drawing of parallel parking on "A" because "A" doesn't set aside the space for sidewalk and street trees. Is "Fortuna Motors" a new business or an old business in Garberville?

  • Please submit your comments on the Enhanced Intersection with Transition Plaza.

All public changes and amenities need to be integrated with private land owners and businesses. Business should be assisted with financial and planning referrals. County/private partnerships should be encouraged. Garberville Sanitary District should apply to LAFCO to become a Community Services District to support Main Street changes contracting with County services and private vendors for street enhancement.

  • Please submit your comments on the Mid-Block Crosswalk section.

I can't tell from this schematic of the enhancements planned except for street trees. Decorative trash and recycling bins need to be established as well as a town directory kiosk of services including direction to the public restroom in the town square.

  • Please submit your comments on the Enhanced Intersection.

A direct link between the enhanced intersection and the Town Square as well as Chatauqua and cafe by use of a one way street to Locust Street and Locust Street should also be turned into a one way street at the appropriate intersection,.
