Humboldt County has been identified as a potentially ideal location for offshore wind energy generation. A number of promising sites for land-based wind energy farms have also been identified.

This is done in Mexico: Many vans, privately run like taxis, travel around the full satellite housing areas regularly going back and forth from Arcata and HSU. The vans would be known to people being attractively painted and known to travel through every hour or so. This way people would not have walk to the main large bus stops.
