Please share what you value about County parks.
I have been going to A W Way Park for Summer Rec since 1980. My son now goes. He learned to ride his bike there. My son's school has an end of the year campout there every year. We visit the park for day use and camping throughout the year. It is a very special place for our family. We have 35 years of memories that we have made at A W Way.
How would you rate the condition of facilities at County parks? (Facilities include roads, trails, parking areas, camp sites, boat ramps, restrooms, signs, and picnic tables.)
How important is it to you that County parks are either free or affordable?
Is providing funding for County parks an important use of the County General Fund?
What is an appropriate camping fee for the County parks campgrounds?
Should Humboldt County consider demand-based pricing (raising camping fees when demand is higher, reducing fees when demand is lower)?
Should Humboldt County consider day-use fees at Clam Beach, or other parks currently without fees?
What would be the impacts if certain County parks are closed?
All people should have free access to beaches and rivers. The A W Way Park is the only public access to the Mattole river along its entire length. If A W Way was closed it would be devastating to my family, to our local schools, to activities for youth and for the entire community.
Should Humboldt County try to find other entities to manage certain parks?
How important are park restrooms?
How important are boat ramps?
How important is the summer swimming area at Freshwater Park?
What changes or improvements would you like to see at County parks?
I would like to see them stay open. The county should be required to maintain these services in our community.
