  • 1. Please provide DHHS’ two greatest strengths
The collaborative (w/community partners) underpinnings of so many of its programs and projects.
  • 2. Please provide DHHS’ two greatest weaknesses.
Lack of mission driven, visionary, empowering, inspirational leadership. Programs that are hamstrung by being asked to do too much with too little and the resulting demoralized staff.
  • 3. Please provide DHHS’ two greatest opportunities to improve during this transition.
A visionary, inspirational leader who has a better grasp of prevention and public health. Motivate and empower staff towards a common mission rather than focus so exclusively on administrative efficiency.
  • 4. Please provide DHHS’ two greatest barriers to success.
The current functionary, bureaucratic and top-heavy climate that has developed since the DHHS consolidation, characterized by the current Asst Director of Programs. The resulting stresses on and low morale of staff.

  • Please provide a short comment regarding question 11.
This question parrots jargon. And #12 does not make sense. My impression is that integration makes good fiscal sense which is important, but that touted program improvements may be hollow. Resulting bureaucratic hindrances stymy motivation, productivity, excellence.
