Do you have any additional feedback?
1. Increase funding to the DA's office to match similar counties on a per capita basis, then increase it by 10%. Provide one-time incentives to attract veteran prosecutors who want to relocate to our area - we can not be productive with all new DDA's, no matter how promising they may be. 2. Provide for a minimum of 2 Deputies on duty 24/7 in the Hoopa and Garberville stations in addition to staff from McKinleyville and main station. Ensure that patrol has a Sergeant on duty for every shift, including a relief Sergeant to cover vacations and sick time. Consider incentives to get resident Deputies in Orick, Bridgeville, and Shelter Cove. Consider making these mandatory assignments if interest and/or incentives are not enough. 3. Add 2 or 3 armed Probation Officer positions, best recruited from existing LE jobs. Increase the use of ankle bracelet or other monitoring devices. 4. Consider a 2 person team of a social worker and a Deputy to work specifically on the issue of mental health and criminal activity. They could identify and help to classify what the dominant issue is and what the best course of action would be. Many of these people are frequent fliers, and this could guide them to the best option, be it incarceration or treatment, or a combination. This should be a county-wide program, including incorporated cities.
