How well does the above draft map showing all proposed districts represent your community?
How well does “Draft Plan A, District A” represent your community?
What would you change about "Draft Plan A, District A"?
It is geographically unwieldy. I don't know how one supervisor could cover it all.
What would you keep about "Draft Plan A, District A"?
No response. How well does “Draft Plan A, District B” represent your community?
What would you change about "Draft Plan A, District B"?
No response. What would you keep about "Draft Plan A, District B"?
This seems to put areas of similar interest together.
How well does “Draft Plan A, District C” represent your community?
What would you change about "Draft Plan A, District C"?
I would consolidate the district around Eureka and separate Arcata. The Eureka district should include King Salmon, Humboldt Hill, and Cutten. It would shift the epicenter south.
What would you keep about "Draft Plan A, District C"?
No response. How well does “Draft Plan A, District D” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan A, District D”?
Shift the district south to cover more of Eureka and outlying areas. Arcata should be rejoined with McKinleyville. What would you keep about “Draft Plan A, District D”?
No response. How well does “Draft Plan A, District E” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan A, District E”?
District E should put McKinleyville, Blue Lake, and Willow Creek together as areas of common interest. If that's too many people then shift areas like Fieldbrook south. Arcata and Eureka have very different interests and always vote differently.
What would you keep about “Draft Plan A, District E”?
No response.Any other thoughts on "Draft Plan A" you would like to share? Please specify if it is the full county or a specific district you are commenting on.
Keep Arcata in "E" and add areas to the east to "B" if necessary. Willow Creek has more in common with Orick than Arcata.
Arcata has very different concerns than Eureka (college, etc.).
The current plan looks like the famous definition of a "CAMEL" as a HORSE put together by a committee!
How well does the above draft map showing all proposed districts represent your community?
How well does “Draft Plan B, District A” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan B, District A”?
This would be a tough district to cover geographically but could work because of common interests. A supervisor would have to enjoy driving! It's a long ways from Willow Creek to Shelter Cove.
What would you keep about “Draft Plan B, District A”?
This alignment makes some sense in terms of community interests.
How well does “Draft Plan B, District B” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan B, District B”?
"B" works well including Fortuna and south as common interest areas. I would not significantly change "B"
What would you keep about “Draft Plan B, District B”?
"B" seems to work well.
How well does “Draft Plan B, District C” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan B, District C”?
I'm not sure why Eureka must be cut in half. Putting the urban eastern section of Eureka with the rural District A makes little sense.
If Eureka was kept as one district I don't know how it would mess up the other districts' balance.
What would you keep about “Draft Plan B, District C”?
I would try to keep Eureka as 'together' as possible. It represents one large common interest group that is different from the more rural areas.
How well does “Draft Plan B, District D” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan B, District D”?
Half of Eureka should not be lumped in with Arcata which has many very different interests. Maybe "D" could be expanded north, south, and west so that it does not include Eureka. Eureka could expand District "C" to include Cutten and Myrtletown, areas obviously aligned with Eureka.
What would you keep about “Draft Plan B, District D”?
It needs serious rearranging.
How well does “Draft Plan B, District E” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan B, District E”?
I would add Blue Lake and maybe Fieldbrook to Arcata's district D and remove Eureka from District D. District E would then include Arcata north to the border.
What would you keep about “Draft Plan B, District E”?
See "changes"
Any other thoughts on "Draft Plan B" you would like to share? Please specify if it is the full county or a specific district you are commenting on.
Districts C, D, and E should be better arranged to reflect common interests. Arcata should be aligned North. If Eureka was removed from D, D could add Blue Lake and Fieldbrook.
How well does the above draft map showing all proposed districts represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan C, District A”?
Again this appears to split Eureka but it makes more sense than Draft A or B
What would you keep about “Draft Plan C, District A”?
I can't zoom in on District A But District C and A look like they work together.
How well does “Draft Plan C, District B” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan C, District B”?
Nothing
What would you keep about “Draft Plan C, District B”?
This appears to put rural areas together so their common interests are well represented
How well does “Draft Plan C, District C” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan C, District C”?
I'm not sure how one person could cover Arcata and all of the area south and southeast physically but if they could it could work.
Some of those rural areas would have FAR different interests from Arcata. I think I would move the area north to include Blue Lake and less of the southeast portion.
What would you keep about “Draft Plan C, District C”?
I like the fact that Eureka would be separated from Arcata.
How well does “Draft Plan C, District D” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan C, District D”?
Manila should not be cut in half. No need.
What would you keep about “Draft Plan C, District D”?
Otherwise it looks pretty good.
How well does “Draft Plan C, District E” represent your community?
What would you change about “Draft Plan C, District E”?
This district seems to make sense.

Of the 3 Drafts, this one makes by far the most sense. It mostly groups like interests within minimum spliting of communities.
