The town should only allocate the required 30% of ATAX money to the current DMO. No additional funds should be allocated at this time. The town needs to wait to see what the true impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic on tourism are before agreeing to further financial support of the DMO.
At the same time, the Town needs to put the DMO contract out to bid. It should not be a given that this contract is always awarded to the Chamber of Commerce. Especially since there appears to be little or no oversight of the Chamber's activity on behalf of the town.
If the Chamber wants to continue advocating on behalf of its members, that is fine. The Chamber's members can pay for that service. The 30% of ATAX money should not automatically be given to the Chamber without putting the DMO contract with the town out to bid.

ATAC is comprised primarily of owners/employees of tourist-dependent businesses. They are looking out for their personal interests when evaluating the spending requests of the Chamber of Commerce. This group needs to be comprised of a balance people whose primary focus is residential interests as well as those with primarily business interests.
Instead of focusing on a continual increase in numbers of tourists, the Chamber should partner with the town to find a balance between tourism and quality of life, to include protection of the town's infrastructure and its exceptional environment.
The Chamber should not be automatically awarded the DMO contract. It should be put out to bid.
