Skull Creek District Plan Community Survey
The Skull Creek district is the historical gateway to Hilton Head Island and home to a vibrant mix of neighborhoods, businesses, parks, and open space. With settlements dating back hundreds of years, this district has great cultural significance and is the only district comprised almost entirely of historic Gullah neighborhoods.
This area is part of the Districts Area Planning Project which aims to create a vision for conservation, land use, scale and character of the built environment, infrastructure investment, zoning regulations, and other programs and policies that impact the future of the district and to establish the actions that will enhance livability, promote economic vitality, preserve cultural heritage, and foster a unique sense of identity and belonging.
Geographically, the Skull Creek District is bordered by Skull Creek to the west and includes land on Jenkins Island to the north of US 278. Its northern boundary aligns with Hilton Head Plantation, while the western edge encompasses the Hilton Head Island public schools campus. To the south, the district includes properties along William Hilton Parkway, extending to Jarvis Creek and featuring landmarks like the Coastal Discovery Museum.
This survey should take about 10 minutes to complete - a small amount of time to have some big impact. Your opinions and knowledge are very important as we move into the next phase of this planning and as we work with the district community to make decisions about next steps. Thank you for your time and thoughtful ideas.
