Give thoughtful and creative responses to selected open-ended questions for the design team of the upcoming Lone Tree Overpass
The Lone Tree Overpass Project will create a north-south roadway connection extending Lone Tree Road between Butler Avenue to the south and Route 66 to the north. The roadway will be on a grade-separated bridge that will go over the BNSF Railway main line corridor and the future Rio de Flag Channel (see images below). This new overpass aims to provide connectivity, traffic congestion relief on streets like Milton Road, San Francisco Street, and Beaver Street, and improved mobility to surrounding neighborhoods. The overpass includes sidewalks and bike lanes; and complements the community’s need these multi-model options with access points connecting to the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS). This survey is for the design team, including a public artist, and is 12 narrative questions - no need to answer all of them. Respond only to what speaks to you. This survey can be completed in 5-20 minutes, depending on how many questions you answer. Deadline is March 11th. Public Art and Beautification for the Lone Tree Overpass Project may include, but is not limited to:
• Formliner design for the retaining walls and/or bridge barrier
• Hardscape enhancements such as custom site furniture and decorative paving
• Beautification of barriers for cyclists
• Decorative metal enhancements for the railings and fencing on the new bridge structure
• Light fixtures and/or lighting enhancements that follow dark sky requirements
• Interactive artwork to liven up pedestrian realms
• Murals /Mosaics
Whatever form the artistic features take, the design team, including a public artist, wants to hear from you for inspiration. The survey questions seek to unearth what resonates for this project.
