This image captures the vibrant street life and businesses that are adjacent to the Downtown Connection Center on Phoenix Avenue, west of Beaver Street. As Mountain Line moves forward to replace the existing center to better serve Flagstaff, the City of Flagstaff has contributed funding for beautification and public art projects, including project(s) for local artists. Opportunity exists to create iconic elements reflecting the uniqueness of the Southside of Flagstaff, the history, the values of the community, future aspirations, themes of connection and transportation. While the actual construction of the project won't occur for a few years (awaiting completion of Rio de Flag in this section) design is occuring soon. We look to you to provide creative input to the Mountain Line design team including the public artists for the new Downtown Connection Center. A portion of the Bed, Board, Beverage tax is dedicated to beautfication and public art projects. The Beautification and Public Art Commission, members of the community, identied this project as a priority for those dedicated funds.
