Take the Budget Challenge! How would you spend $100 of general purpose tax revenue in the City of Elk Grove? At the end please click next to submit your response. You do not need to register to participate though you are welcome to if you’d like your response to be visible to others who participate.
We are developing the City of Elk Grove’s budget and fiscal plan for the next two years. Contribute to the process by sharing what’s important to you!
The process takes just a few minutes, but it will help us to align the City’s spending plan with the community’s priorities. You will be presented with existing priorities and asked to share how important these priorities are to you.
The City operates with a General Fund Budget of nearly $75 million, but to simplify things, this exercise will ask you to allocate a smaller budget that’s indicative of your spending priorities. Click on each item to learn more about it and to assign it an amount that represents its value to you, for a total budget of $100.
A Note about Municipal Services Provided by Other Agencies
As you complete this exercise, please remember the City of Elk Grove is not a full service City. Many municipal services Elk Grove residents receive are provided by other agencies. For example, parks, fire, water, health and human services, and education are all provided by other agencies which receive separate allocations of your tax dollars. These are not accounted for in this exercise.
Share Your Ideas and Feedback
Don’t see something you want included as an option? You may choose to allocate funds to the category “Other.” If you choose “Other,” please provide details in the “Statement” box beneath the exercise to describe what service, program, or project you think should receive funding.
You can also leave general feedback (comments, questions, suggestions) in that space. It would be helpful to the City to learn your thoughts on any of the following:
What is the most important priority for the next 2 years?
What would you like to see expanded?
What would you like to see reduced?
What would you like to see added?
What would you like to see discontinued?
Have you had any experiences with the City (positive and/or negative)?
How can the City improve?
For details about the City’s annual budget, see the City’s Budget Fact Sheet. You can also find those resources in addition to the full budget document at the City’s Budget Web Page.
