Climate change has been proven not to be man-caused, and the economic and other consequences of actions of climate-change-activists are more harmful than helpful. Please listen to or read Michael Schellenberger's (a former climate change advocate) analysis of so-called green energy, which is actually harming our environment, and read Gregory Whitestone's book, Inconvenient facts, and MJ Sangster's book The Real Inconvenient Truth. Please become informed on the true science, not the media-based hype.
Based on your amount of concern for the above items, do you think the City Council’s 2019 sustainability goals are not stringent enough, about right or too stringent?
An 80% reduction in community-wide and municipal greenhouse gas emissions from 2016 levels by 2050, with an interim goal of a 30% reduction by 2030 - Too stringent
100% renewable electricity by 2050, with an interim goal of 50% renewable electricity by 2030 - Too stringent
Please elaborate.
Please see the comments above. Real "green" energy is nuclear (generation 4) power plants. Neither wind nor solar (PV) is sustainable and neither is environmentally sound.
The Sustainability Plan Working Group holds equity as a core value of the plan process. What is your understanding of how Climate Change/Sustainability Planning and equity intersect?
Equity has to do with everyone being equal in the eyes of the law of the land, with equal opportunity to make their own way in the world - not some more equal than others because they are a special class or more "victimized" than others.
Are there any sectors or subsectors missing from this list that you think should be included in Durango’s Sustainability Plan?
No
Are there any sectors or subsectors on this list you don’t think need to be addressed in Durango’s Sustainability Plan?
I think some of the emphases or plans are misguided, but the categories look fine
Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Please investigate (thoroughly) nuclear power generation with generation 4 reactor technology as the best electric energy solution for our future. A modular nuclear plant (closed-cycle with no environmental hazards) could power La Plata County for years with the initial fuel pack, which is then replaced. The waste heat could be used to heat all of the downtown hot water supply and even some of the downtown spaces. These are safe systems with no physical possibility of "melt-down", explosion, or radiation leaks. This is proven technology being held up politically by powerful environmentalist groups and polititions, who are reaping millions of dollars by doing this.
Virtual City Hall is not a certified voting system or ballot box. As with any public comment process, participation in Virtual City Hall is voluntary.
