Please let us know if there are specific factors that have impacted your ranking of satisfaction in this survey.
Concerned about growth that is happening too quickly changing the face of Durango's small town charm. The size and appearance of many of the downtown buildings and hotels. The question of water availability for the many new developments. The ridiculous over pricing of downtown Main Street retail spaces making it too hard for many to stay in business. The price of parking for Durango is way out of line for locals incomes. Also concerned about letting so many houses build secondary units for rent thereby altering the neighborhoods, effecting parking and increasing the already high cost of buying a house in Durango. Young working families earning Durango wages are simply being priced out of the market. Increased day care facilities are also needed. I also say that those who are so wealthy that they can afford a second or third part time home in Durango should pay a secondary tax that could go into a pool that local families could access to lower the burden of buying a house. It is these part time owners that drive the price of housing too high. Does Durango really have enough water resources to support all this growth? Lastly if Durango portrays itself as a caring community then it needs to do more for the homeless. We have a lot of VERY wealthy people here and we do not want to turn our town into another Vail..
