Airport Terminal Design Options
The Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) is undertaking a Terminal Area Plan study to guide long-term consideration of terminal expansion. This survey is an opportunity for the public to review initial design options and provide comments and feedback on each alternative.
Expansion and modernization of terminal facilities is a key part of the airport’s plan to accommodate today’s needs and future needs as demand for commercial air service to our region continues to grow. 2019 is on track to be the busiest year of all time at DRO, with more than 380,000 passengers expected to arrive or depart the airport. The current terminal facility was built more than 30 years ago and is undersized and aging.
DRO operates as an enterprise fund of the City of Durango and generates self-sustaining revenue from airport tenants and users in the form of airline rent and landing fees, terminal concessions, ground leases, and parking fees. The airport does not receive any local tax funding. Any terminal expansion would be funded by these revenues, fees and grant opportunities.
The airport is committed to keeping the community engaged and informed of any proposed development at DRO. Thank you for taking the time to share your input.
