Compared to other similar cities, the trash, green waste and recyclable collection is overly complicated. The rate paid consists of a compilation of up to six different fees that add up to a significant monthly expense.

Green waste and recycling should become the focus of collections. It should be an easy process that does not require significant effort to sort specific materials, but instead makes it second-nature for the public to regularly dispose of debris responsibly and sustainably. Smaller trash and all-encompassing recycling containers would be preferred.

Program is overly complicated, consisting of different collection days, different collection locations (curbside vs. alley), select materials (excluding glass and other items), etc. The overall program makes if difficult to be a responsible neighbor and recycle as much as possible.

With the understanding that reasonable funding would be necessary, composting green waste should be a standard City service. Virtually all other cities collect all three streams of waste on the same day and same location throughout their residential neighborhoods.
