The City of Benicia is updating its Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Click here to view the EOP and corresponding documents.  A hard copy can be viewed at the Benicia Fire Department (150 Military West).  The city is evaluating its emergency operations procedures. To help modify and improve our procedures, City staff is seeking community input through an online survey.

The purpose of this survey is to obtain public comment on the City's response, management, and recovery related to emergencies and disasters.

The City of Benicia is updating the Historic District Design Guidelines of the Downtown Historic Conservation Plan (1990). The design guidelines are available online at www.ci.benicia.ca.us/downtowndesign or can be viewed in hard copy at the Benicia Public Library (150 East L Street) and Benicia City Hall (250 East L Street).  The city is evaluating its procedures for design review, which apply to both historic and non-historic properties in the District. Design review requires a formal application and can be completed at the staff level (administrative) or by the Historic Preservation Review Commission (HPRC) depending on the nature of the proposal. To help modify and improve our prcedures, City staff is seeking community input through an online survey.

The purpose of this survey is to obtain public comment on design review procedures and preferences, which will be used to help develop recommendations to the HPRC. Community members with an interest in the design guidelines and/or design review requirements are also invited to attend a public open house on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Meeting Room #2, Benicia Community Center, 370 East L Street.

This spring, the City of Benicia is launching a new tool called Priority-Based Budgeting to help align its resources with the "Results" that matter most to our community.

Essential to this process is your opinion on how you define the results--in other words, what they mean to you. "Results" and "Result Definitions" form the very evaluation criteria by which City programs will be scored and prioritized.

Some years ago, the City established five strategic issues that describe the role of local government as a provider of services to our community.  On February 27, 2018, the Cty Council confirmed the use of those same five as our Community Results in this new process; they are:

• Protecting Community Health and Safety
• Protecting and Enhancing the Environment
• Strengthening Economic and Fiscal Conditions 
• Preserving and Enhancing Infrastructure
• Maintain and Enhance a High Quality of Life

Benicia City staff is reviewing responses from its first Benicia Town Hall survey, which invited the public to share opinions about local cannabis regulations. This feedback will help guide the City Council and staff’s decision-making process.  

The results are being presented to the City Council at its meeting on August 15, 2017 at 7:00PM as part of a report on cannabis. The council agenda can be found here and the agenda item is 15B. How do you feel about cannabis in our community?

The Benicia City Council wants your input to help guide its decisions about upcoming regulations on cannabis in our community.

The City Council will be considering whether to allow or prohibit several regulations surrounding cannabis—including its cultivation, sale, testing and manufacturing of products.  

In light of that, the City Council wants to better understand how the community feels about these issues. Please take our brief online survey to share your opinion with City Council.
