Do you Support the Proposed Traffic Calming Program Update?

The City of Ann Arbor has been working on an update to the existing Traffic Calming Program. The Traffic Calming Program works to improve the quality of life and safety of neighborhood streets through the installation of traffic calming devices. The program was originally adopted in 1999 and last revised in 2005-2006 and applies only to local streets. The current program update effort is being pursued to incorporate changes based on the following:

• Industry best practices
• Staff observations
• Past project area feedback
• Peer community review
• November 2016 Report to City Council - Traffic Calming, Speed Limits, and Design Speed Report
• Transportation Commission Speed Reduction Committee Recommendations 
• Additional community input

Proposed updates include changes to the program objectives, engagement process, project area qualification criteria and toolbox of devices. We are seeking community feedback on the proposed updates, and invite you to share feedback by clicking ‘Take the Survey’ below. This feedback opportunity will remain open until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6. Your feedback will help refine the proposed program update before moving forward to City of Ann Arbor Transportation Commission and City Council for action.
