Support for developing new downtown park at Liberty Plaza and Library Lane parking lot - Supportive
Do you have additional comments about park improvements you would support funding?
I wish there was a shorter lead up to the pedestrian bridge at the just above the dam. It's such a long ways on foot from the street.
4. How would you prioritize funding with your Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation tax dollars? Please select your top three (3) priorities for park improvements to be funded with tax dollars.
5. The City has a tax that can only be used to buy land for future parks, natural areas, or open space preservation. How important is it for Ann Arbor to buy the following types of land?

Land along the Huron River - Important
Land to create trails and greenways - Important
Neighborhood parks - Important

Do you have any comments about the quality and condition of specific recreation facilities? (e.g. Argo Canoe Livery, Farmers Market, Buhr Park Pool, Veterans Ice Arena, Huron Hills Golf Course, etc.)
How come Mack pool isn't listed among the city website's pools? I don't remember seeing it there before it closed for the season.

Do you have any comments about the quality of specific park amenities?
Wayfinding signs for the B2B trail at places like Maiden Ln and Broadway, or to point out park access / trail access would be great!
Or to find Island Park from Fuller Park
8. Please tell us how well Ann Arbor park maintenance is doing.
No response.
Do you have additional comments about park maintenance?
A lot of swings at various playgrounds have deep "wear" under them, making them much higher off the ground than they were originally intended.
I am generally so impressed at how well the parks are kept!
9. Do you generally feel welcome in Ann Arbor Parks and Facilities?
Yes, I generally feel welcome
Do you have any comments about feeling welcome in city parks?
No response.
10. Are there any changes or accommodations that could be made to allow you or another member of your household to use park facilities or participate in recreation?
A bucket swing at Belize Park.
At least one bucket swing at each playground with swings would be really nice.
Those plastic fake tire swings are terrible -- not enough weight, so they tip over when a kid climbs in.
11. Are there any new programs, activities, or amenities you feel Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation should consider for the future?
Skating aids at the ice arena for little kids (seal sledges) https://synerglace.ca/en/equipment-and-accessories/ice-skating-aids/
I would love a small splash pad at a playground or two (Waterworks park is very frustratingly named) with morning hours for toddlers who nap in the early afternoon.
I feel obscenely lucky to live in a neighborhood that is so close to so many parks and playgrounds (while having a backyard). I'd love to see playgrounds accessible for neighborhoods that have more density, less backyards, with the building against the traffic corridor and providing some shelter to the playground instead of the park against the big road.
I wish West Park had a water fountain. There is a beautiful Armenian tradition of funding water fountains as memorials (examples: https://www.instagram.com/poolpoolakarmenia/?hl=en), and they are often sculptural and unique, on many street corners, run continuously, and are in frequent use in Yerevan. I understand piping water would be expensive. I do think a program where people could fund beautiful waterfountains as memorials would be pretty wonderful though. Just dreaming!
I hate the bland sameness of most all playgrounds. Why did the cool old springy sit-on-top thing disappear from Island Park? Take a look at the playgrounds of Berlin if you want inspiration. Seriously, just take a look at the photos on google maps after a search for playgrounds in Berlin. That's all it takes. I realize a custom design + build is way harder than ordering from a catalog, but we would support local artists and builders. It doesn't hurt to dream.
Typically non-typical examples: Hexenspielplatz, Sherwood Forest Playground, Dragon Kid Park, Mauerpark Playground
12. How satisfied are you with Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation overall?
