What ideas do you have for how the Alameda community can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase resilience to climate change impacts?

Welcome to the Climate Action and Resiliency Plan!

Context

While Alameda is a sustainability leader in the Bay Area, our island faces significant vulnerabilities to climate change impacts, such as increased shoreline flooding and reduced air quality. To address these challenges and demonstrate leadership in sustainability, the City of Alameda is developing a new Climate Action and Resiliency Plan. This Plan will lay out strategies for reducing dangerous greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change, and adapting to the impacts of climate change.

What is this?

The City is hosting three in-person workshops to solicit climate action ideas from community members on September 24, 25, and 26. To include those who cannot make it to the in-person workshops or prefer an online forum, the City has developed this online workshop. The "board" you see on the next page is a digital version of what those at the in-person workshops will be interacting with.

Why participate

All of the ideas that community members suggest will be assessed for feasibility and effectiveness by our team of staff and outside experts. The strategies we include in the final plan will come directly from this pool of ideas, along with other ideas we have gathered from past plans, the survey we sent out this summer, and other sources.

How to participate

At the bottom of this page, click "Add Your Idea." You'll see a black "board" that has five "branches." Click the little white speech symbol  to add your idea to the appropriate branch. (The number on it indicates the number of ideas already suggested.) After writing your idea, click "Next." You'll be taken to a page where you can review your idea one more time, then click "OK" and it's submitted!

When you submit your first comment you will be prompted with an optional registration page. Registering will make your response visible to the public. Your email address and other personal information will not be shared with the City of Alameda or the public per the privacy policy.  You will need to verify your email address before you can add additional comments as a registered user.  If you choose not to submit personal information, your response only will be shown to City staff. If you do not register you will need to go back into the topic to add additional comments.
